- Ranks 27th among 177 countries with high beef consumption of a total of 82.3 kg per capita.
- The share of beef in total meat consumption in the country has decreased since 2002 and last year amounted to 26.7 percent.
- In 2009 the average Belgian bought 32.1 kg of fresh meat (excluding poultry) which is about 0.5 kg less than in 2008 according to a report presented by the Belgian Meat Office
- The average person in Belgium is now only eating 30.4 kilos of meat a year including poultry rabbit and game.
- Less and less meat is being consumed in Belgium according to research commissioned by the Flemish Centre for Agricultural and Fisheries Marketing the VLAM which revealed a year-over-year decrease of 3.6% last year.
