  • Most of Kosovo’s Dishes includes meat- either minced- stuffed or baked. Famous dishes they usually eat are Stuffed peppers- with meat- rice and vegetables.-Sarma and Tave kosi- Baked lamb meat with yogurt.
  • The imported meat to domestic consumption ratio in Kosovo is alarming!— but the present economic conditions and consumer demand for low cost meat items could make intervention counter-productive. The only feasible solution is to offset import costs with export income.
  • The cuisine of Kosovo compatibly matches with the area’s continental climate. The Kosovar daily cuisine consisting of various pies and an assortment of meat- coordinates well with the hot summers and cold winters it possesses.
  • Mantiya is another ordinary dish made of pastry and filled with meat and shaped into small cushions of squares. There are also very common beef- spinach- and cheese pies which are made of layers of pastry and filling
  • In the meat processing sector- Kosovo has a tradition of large-scale meat production. In the former Yugoslavia- the meat industry was characterized by its own unique system of farming. Socially-owned enterprises operated large-scale agricultural farms and big meat processing complexes. One legacy of this tradition is that today there are six major meat processors in Kosovo who supply around 15% to 20% of Kosovo’s domestic market.
