• A recent study in Hungary has found that the rising level of VAT fraud throughout the country is crippling the Hungarian Food Industry- with around half of VAT payable on meat products being lost to fraud.
• Meat consumption in Hungary has fallen steadily over the last decade- primarily as a result of economic circumstances- as the majority of the population cannot afford it.
• Ministry of Agriculture will launch an ambitious public awareness campaign aimed at increasing the average Hungarian’s consumption of red meat
• Nielsen released a survey on food consumption in Hungary showing meat as the most popular of 86 food categories as measured by overall purchases
• many Hungarian consumers are finally wizening up to the fact that- at least compared to the (very tasty) pork- most domestic beef is pretty much inedible.
