  • Organic milk and meat (beef- sheep) is mostly produced and consumed in Liechtenstein or gets exported to Switzerland.
  • In 2009 a total of 84 tons of organic meat were produced in Liechtenstein (72 percent beef- 14 percent sheep- 11 percent pork and the remainder goat and horse meat).
  • Currently- Norway- Iceland- Switzerland- Liechtenstein- Denmark and Sweden have all outlawed ritual (halal and kosher) slaughter- requiring instead that an animal be stunned prior to slaughter.
  • Widely-consumed meats include beef- chicken and pork.[2] The consumption of three meals a day is commonplace- and meals are often formal.
  • Alpine pasture- particularly well suited for cattle grazing- covers over 35% of the total land area. In 2005- cattle numbered about 6-000; hogs- 3-000; and sheep- 2-900.
